The Caister Care Centre urges all residents to please be considerate during the winter influenza season. If you are showing signs of a productive upper respiratory infection-sneezing, coughing and or a runny nose, please do not expose others unnecessarily. We strongly advise that you dine in your apartment, or during quieter periods in the dining room. When in confined areas, such as the bus, please use a mask to contain the potential spread of germs. Should you develop any of these symptoms, kindly contact the trained staff in the clinic to advise them accordingly to enable us to advise the accounts department for the appropriate tray levy costing.

Residents are reminded that the clinic does not facilitate the telephonic catering orders. Please call the kitchen directly on extension 106, or room service on extension 110. Note that the switchboard only opens at 07:30 am on weekdays and at 08:00 am on weekends and public holidays. Should you call earlier than the above opening times, you will automatically reach the clinic and you will not be able to be assisted by the clinic staff.

Due to the diminishing numbers of residents attending the Saturday night movies in the TV lounge, the Residents House Committee has decided that for the foreseeable future, movies will only be shown on Monday nights.

Residents who no longer want their orchids after they have flowered may place same around the tree outside the main entrance and advise Caroline Jankovich who will attend to them with her team of helpers.

Residents who have requested Regular Visitor Barcodes and not yet received them may enquire the reception to collect same.

Once again, residents are reminded that food is not to be removed from the dining room save for one fruit at breakfast time and the dinner from the Sunday night buffet. If you require any food in your apartment, please order same from reception which will be delivered to your unit.

Thank you to all residents who are assisting with the recycling program at Caister Lodge. In respect of the glass for recycling, once the bag is at capacity, it is too heavy to move, so please place all your glass for recycling where the bag was originally and the grounds men will place them the allocated receptacle.

Residents who smoke in their apartments are requested to please close their entrance doors as the smoke permeating into the passageways is unpleasant and harmful to other residents and staff.

Residents who are interested in the efforts made by the members of the House Committee are reminded that the minutes thereof and management response is available for your perusal in a file at reception.

Once again, residents are reminded to please return crockery and glassware that has been removed from the dining room or not given back to the tray waiters on request which is creating shortages and not to mention an exorbitant cost to replace same.

Please continue to use water sparingly to ensure we don’t end up with water restrictions in the future. The current levels of the dams that feed the greater Durban area is listed below for your information.

    Albert Falls Dam 91.26%
    Midmar Dam 91.87%
    Inanda Dam 97.37%
    Hazelmere Dam 78.21%
